If you walk straight up to some lady and have your shoulders squared and chest out, then they are less likely to respond in a positive manner. If you approach from an angle with your body turned a bit (less threatening), you may get better results. Men can talk to other men like this, but not to women, especially if she is smaller/shorter than you are.

Women can say much worse things, but they usually don’t, and the rest of the point is well-taken. You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.

Also, a quick word on confidence: People say “be confident” and that is stupid advice. Confidence comes from experience. Which means you have to put yourself through the experience (approaching a woman) more than a few times without the confidence, before it will really start to come.
